Today, on November the twenty fourth, LEGO announced that it was ending the BIONICLE franchise. I have been an avid collector since day one so this was terrible news for me. They have said that the new themes will work around the same principals, but it will never be the same. Greg Farshtey, the long time writer for BIONICLE, has agreed to keep the story going even if there will be no sets to accompany them; I look forward to more of his work, his style of writing has always inspired me to write my own stories. My only hope is that they are merely taking a break and seeing how the populace will react to these new series, and perhaps come back with fresh ideas for the BIONICLE universe in a year or two. Farewell BIONICLE, may your return be swift.

Yeah...collected them for a solid decade then they cut the entire thing off mid production so we'll never know what could have been.

Perhaps Mata Nui can rest easily now...those heroes were irreplaceable. Especially the Toa Nuva.

The only reason I stopped buying Bionicle sets in 2008 was due to low quality plastic in the ball/socket joints that kept cracking whenever I would put a set together. Many of my older sets lie in ruin, torn apart for spare parts. my first set.... Gali Nuva. I still have her mask. It's the only Bionicle item I have left. The rest of my 25+ set collection had to be thrown away.
Lego says that Bionicle's replacement series will be aimed more at a younger audience. (WTF MATA NUI IN DUPLO?!)
